Lithuania, Belarus and China intend to cooperate in the development of Eurasian transport corridor.
Ministers of Transport of Lithuania, Belarus and China on Oct. 19 signed a declaration on cooperation in the development of the initiative to create a Eurasian transport corridor, told RBC with the ASEM forum in Vilnius.
The declaration speaks of the need to strengthen cooperation in Asia and Europe in expanding and modernizing infrastructure and land use of the common transport policy on the principles of transparency, mutual trust and non-discrimination. Lithuania, Belarus and China are going to join forces and create a chain of logistics.
“We intend to invite all the neighbors and located in the way of the Eurasian transport corridor transit countries to join in a common initiative to create opportunities for competitive international freight transport” – the document says.
Forum of business and the meeting of transport ministers of ASEM held in Lithuania on October 19-20. The initiators and organizers of major events were Lithuania and China.
The origins of the establishment of ASEM (Asia-Europa Meeting) leave in 1996. When at a meeting in Singapore, EU and Asia decided to create this organization for informal communication and cooperation. Today its members are the 27 EU countries and 16 Asian States.
